Since our 25th anniversary season when the current BCC side played the original 1982 BCC XI (well some of them) - a fitting name to describe the original XI was coined - Broadway Legends - I believe by Rory MacNeill.

There has been two matches between the two sides -  both of them won by the Broadway Legends - despite most of the team being the wrong side of 50 !

The first match in 2007 was a close game played in the rain at Waring Park, Sidcup but the Legends won.

The second match in 2012 saw the Legends comprehensively beat the BCC side. A report of the game is as follows -

 Broadway Legends enhance reputation !!!

The Broadway Legends team trounced the Broadway CC Club side by 5 wkts in what proved to be a one sided match at Mayday Gardens in the Clubs 30th Anniversary match August 2012.

Alex Langford and Luke Tanner deputising for those Scotch Legends "Shaw & MacNeill " helped inflict a humiliating defeat upon the BCC. Things started badly for the Legends tho - Steve Tanner turned up with a bad back and said he wouldn't bowl and Tony Brandi pulled up lame after 1.3 overs of his bowling spell with a pulled hamstring. But Legends are not called that for nothing! After opener Triggs was bowled by Adrian Langford (to the shouts of "come on dad" ) the BCC were in complete disaray. Adrians son Alex Langford heaped further humiliation on BCC skipper Michaels trapping him LBW for not a lot (although a possible hint of bat may have been involved). Alex then roughed up Sicknote Purcell and bowled him middle stump with his third delivery. Pressure bowling from Tony Arpino resulted in wickets for Glenn Hunt and Dave Tanner as they rolled back the years. Catches were all held, particularly the innings ending dismissal of Luke Arpino - caught by dad Tony. Only some dubious interpretation of the 'wide" ruling helped BCC limp to 89 all out with 15 overs left !!

The Broadway Legends innings started with some bad luck Ben White being caught behind off the back of his bat in an attempted pull. Thurman edging a low one to Dan Lloyd at first slip for an excellent catch (he dropped and easier chance later) put us on 10 for 2 . Paul Tanner and Glenn Hunt proceeded to knock the runs off. Paul Tanner was recklessly run out and was replaced by Tony Brandi (with Ben White as runner). Tony nearly hit a 6 off the fielder at square leg but only got 4 - Glenn however went one better and hit a 6 off the same fielder at square Leg - whatever next !! Next ball Glenn was out chasing a wide one from Darryl Murdoch to bring in ex-skipper Dave Tanner. With Tony out LBW to Simon Triggs hitting across a straight one Luke Tanner strode to the crease with the intention of hitting the final 2 runs for victory. However Dave couldn't resist a lobby leg side delivery which was put away for 4 and victory by 5 wickets. While all this was going on some dubious decision making from BCC skipper left Liam Walsh with 4 overs still left to bowl ! - or maybe the skipper had given up before then !!

You should have been there !!
